Wood Industry Market Analysis and Development Prospects Outlook
In recent years, as the global economy has steadily recovered, the wood industry has also shown a promising development trend. As one of the world’s largest consumers of timber, China continues to exhibit strong demand for wood, driving the prosperity of the entire wood industry market. Industries such as home decoration, construction, and furniture manufacturing are highly dependent on wood, providing the wood industry with ample room for growth.

Sweden’s forestry sector confidence has fallen to a six-year low, and the growth rate of timber exports to China has slowed down.
According to a report on December 17, the Swedish forestry sub-index fell by 19 points to 97.6 in the fourth quarter of 2025, reaching its lowest level since spring 2020. Affected by weak export demand and the imposition of new tariffs by the United States, Sweden’s cumulative wood imports from China from January to October totaled 334,400 cubic meters, a year-on-year decrease of 12.3%. Among these, imports of spruce and fir lumber plunged by 28.6% year-on-year, while imports of red pine and Siberian pine lumber bucked the trend and rose by 25.9%. Currently, the Swedish forestry sector is showing systemic contraction signals, such as a decline in the area for which logging permits have been applied.

Furniture exports surged 14.7% in November.
After a whole year of tepid demand and intense price competition in China’s furniture exports, the export data for November brought a surprising note of warmth—or, to be more precise, a flurry of activity “just before the storm.”

The U.S. imposes a 15% tariff on EU hardwood.
On December 3, 2025, the United States officially imposed a 15% tariff on hardwood lumber exported from the European Union to the U.S. This tariff rate represents the upper limit of the combined U.S. Section 232 tariffs and additional tariffs, and also corresponds to the ceiling on tariffs for EU wood products agreed upon in the U.S.-EU trade agreement.
The Impact of the U.S.-China Trade War on China's Wood Industry
Since the White House website published the President’s Memorandum on March 22, 2018, U.S. time, announcing the imposition of additional tariffs on more than 1,300 imported products from China worth $50 billion under the Section 301 investigation, Sino-U.S. trade tensions have gradually escalated. On July 11, 2018, the U.S. government announced measures to impose additional tariffs on approximately $200 billion worth of goods imported from China and invited public comments on these measures. On August 2, the U.S. side announced its intention to raise the tariff rate on the aforementioned $200 billion in goods from 10% to 25%. From August 20 to 27, a six-day public consultation was held regarding the $200 billion in goods.

Wood Industry Knowledge: Cultivation Techniques for Qianjinba
Qianjinba is a perennial medicinal plant whose roots are the primary part used in medicine. It has a well-developed main root that penetrates deeply into the soil, with few or no lateral roots. It thrives in dry conditions but is sensitive to waterlogging and exhibits strong vitality. Therefore, it is best to select deep, sandy loam or loamy soils—soils that are loose and well-drained—with adequate drainage and no compacted layers beneath the topsoil. Plowing is ideally done in autumn; if autumn plowing is not feasible, spring plowing can be substituted, provided that soil moisture levels are properly maintained. Before planting, clods should be broken up and the ground leveled; otherwise, this could hinder the development of robust seedlings. Beds should be about 1.2 meters wide and approximately 30 centimeters high, with bed lengths determined by the terrain. Qianjinba Cultivation Techniques: I. Site Selection and Land Preparation Qianjinba prefers warm, sunny conditions.
